In choosing the name for this project, Unseen Childhoods: Disabled characters in twentieth-century books for girls, I sought one that would encapsulate the diverse nature of the essays contained in it but also highlight the fact that to a greater or lesser extent anyone with a disability remains invisible in the wider society.
I have been fortunate in that I have not had to look for a publisher, Ju Gosling having expressed an interest, way back in 1994, in publishing it whenever it was finished.
As of 6 May 2008 the proposed publication date is set as Summer 2008. More
